Alcatel OneTouch's back to school bundle packs an Idol 3 and OneTouch Watch for $300

Alcatel OneTouch is getting in on the back to school action with a deal that contains one of our favorite budget-friendly smartphones, the Idol 3, along with the company's OneTouch Watch for $300.

As a bit of a refresher, the Idol 3 packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and runs on a 1.7GHz processor. You'll also score a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP camera up front. The OneTouch Watch that comes in this bundle unfortunately doesn't pack Android Wear, but it does handle notifications and controlling music, and includes a number of apps for tracking health stats. It's also water and dust proof to boot.

The Alcatel Idol 3 normally retails for $279 (currently marked down to $250), while the OneTouch Watch goes for $149 on its own, so this isn't a bad deal if it piques your interest. If you're still on the fence, be sure to check out our five reasons to buy the Alcatel Idol 3.

And it's half-useful, half-plea to get you to install some of Microsoft's apps on your phone. (And these days, there's a decent chance that those apps will be on there in the first place.)

From the forums: Is the OnePlus invite system actually a good thing?

Every discussion about the OnePlus 2 (just like the One before it) is going to revolve around the process of requiring an invite to actually buy the phone. No matter how much you're a fan of the design, features or software, when it comes to just buying a OnePlus 2 you've gotta stand in line, sign up to be considered or bug your friends on social media.

But what if the invite system is actually a good thing? zachthebomb13 raises an interesting discussion in the OnePlus 2 forums:
